Women’s basketball to duel Boston College Wednesday

The Holy Cross women's basketball program travels to Chestnut Hill to square off against nonconference opponent Boston College Wednesday, Nov. 23 at noon in Conte Forum. The contest will stream live through the ACC Network on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (3-1, 0-0 PL): 
  • The Crusaders responded from an 11 point second quarter deficit to defeat Connecticut College 65-49 Sunday afternoon in the Hart Center. Four players reached double figures for Holy Cross including junior Bronagh Power-Cassidy who led all players with 16 points. Senior Addisyn Cross racked up a personal-best five steals while sophomore Callie Wright snared a career-high eight rebounds in the victory.
  • Sophomore forward Lindsay Berger and freshman guard Kaitlyn Flanagan were named Patriot League Honorable Mention on Monday. Berger averaged a double-double, 15 points and 11.5 rebounds to go with 2.0 blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game shooting 57.9% from the floor while Flanagan set career-highs in points (12), rebounds (5) and assists (4) against New Hampshire last week.
  • Addisyn Cross has started strong on the defensive end in her senior season. The guard is the top defender on the team that's allowing 53.0 points per game (tops in the Patriot League) and opponents to shoot 36.4% which is the third best mark in the conference. Cross paces the PL in steals per game (2.8).
  • Holy Cross last started the season 3-1 in 2019-20. The Crusaders were 4-1 through five games.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES (3-2, 0-0 ACC): 
  • Boston College finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 21-12, 10-8 ACC mark and are off to a 3-2 start this season. The Eagles have responded from a 1-2 start winning their last two games including a 73-64 decision Sunday against Providence. Freshmen Taina Mair and T'Yana Todd carried BC both scoring a career-high 15 points each. Mair led the team with five assists.
  • The Eagles have used only three reserves in over half their games going three deep off the bench at Harvard (L, 68-59), at Northeastern (W, 64-59) and vs. Providence (W, 73-64). In the other two contests (vs. Massachusetts-Lowell, W, 81-53 and vs. #14 Ohio State, L, 64-82) BC has used five bench players.
  • Taina Mair leads the NCAA in assists with 40. She is currently sixth in the country in assists per game (8.0) and 15th in the nation in steals per game (3.4). Dontavia Waggoner ranks third in Division I in steals per game (4.2) which is the top mark in the ACC.
  • Since 2018-19, the Eagles are 43-4 (.915) when they allow 65 points or less.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • The Crusaders are 10-31 (.244) in the series history with the Eagles dating back to 1978.
  • During their last meeting on November 13, 2021, BC rolled to a 75-50 win. Bronagh Power-Cassidy and Janelle Allen reached double digits in points with 12 and 10 each.
  • Holy Cross has lost 10 straight meetings at Conte Forum with their last victory coming in Chestnut Hill on December 9, 1997, an 80-68 Crusader win.
