WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Gabby Venezia of the Holy Cross field hockey team has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, as voted on by the league's sports information directors and announced by the league office Wednesday.

Venezia is graduating in May with a degree in economics and a minor in dance. She posted a 3.71 cumulative GPA. This season, she started in all 17 contests for the Crusaders and owns the team's third-highest point total with seven from three goals and one assist. She also recorded two defensive saves. 

Venezia has received multiple Patriot League recognitions during her time on the Hill. Most recently, she was announced Second Team All-Patriot League by the league on Tuesday. In addition, she earned Patriot League Honor Roll during her sophomore and junior seasons.

The Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League team honor student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The awards are nominated and voted on by the Patriot League field hockey sports information directors. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport.
