Field hockey travels to Providence

The Holy Cross field hockey team will travel to face Providence College at the Lennon Family Field on Oct. 2 at 1 p.m.
 
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS (3-7, 0-2 PL)
  • The Crusaders had three contests last week and went 2-1, downing both Merrimack and Davidson.
  • Sophomore forward Meggan Fourie leads the team in points with seven goals and two assists on the season.
  • Last week, Fourie was named the Patriot League Field Hockey Offensive Player of the week. She totaled four goals and one assist in the games against Merrimack and Davidson.
  • Senior defender Gabby Venezia has seen a break-out season with three goals and three assists on the year after scoring her first collegiate goal against UC Davis at the beginning of the season.
  • Junior goaltender Brooke Ross currently has a goals-against average of 2.16.
 
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE FRIARS (4-6, 2-1 BE)
  • The Friars are coming off of a 0-4 loss against No. 11 UConn. This is the third time Providence has been shut out this season. Their first two came from No. 14 Boston College (0-5) and No. 22 UMass (0-2).
  • Junior forward Allie DeCoste leads Providence in points on the season with four goals and three assists.
  • Junior goaltender Asia Porter has posted a goals-against average of 2.33 on the season.
