Women’s basketball faces tough opponent Bucknell Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's basketball team takes their three game winning streak on the road to face Patriot League opponent Bucknell Saturday at the Sojka Pavilion with tip-off slated for 2:00 p.m. The contest will stream on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (11-6, 5-1 PL): 
  • Holy Cross started the Patriot League schedule 5-1 for the first time since the 2005-06 season following a 63-57 win at home versus Lafayette. The Crusaders had their best shooting performance of the campaign going 26-for-52 (50%) from the hardwood with three players scoring in double figures in the win.
  • Senior Avery LaBarbera manufactured her eighth straight double-double with a 16 point and 14 rebound effort. She has a double-double in 10 of the last 11 games for the Crusaders (8-3) averaging 16.3 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Her 10 double-doubles are tied for 10th in the NCAA.
  • In Patriot League games, LaBarbera ranks first in rebounds per game (13.3), first in assists per contest (4.8) second in scoring (17.0), second in free throw percentage (90%), second in minutes (35.8) and 10th in steals per game (1.5).
SCOUTING THE BISON (13-4, 4-2 PL): 
  • The Bison have won four in a row including a, 20 point, 61-41 victory at Colgate on Wednesday night. Cecelia Collins stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals while Taylor O'Brien added 12 points and five rebounds. Bucknell held Colgate to 12 total points combined in the second and third quarters.
  • Bucknell has excelled on their home court the past four seasons going 39-4 (.907) at Sojka Pavilion. Bucknell last had more than one loss at home in 2017-18 when they were 12-4 (.750).
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross holds a 46-25 (.647) advantage in the series between the two programs which began in 1991.
  • The two teams last played on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, in Lewisburg and the Bison rolled to a 63-45 win. Then-senior Lauren Manis had a team-best 14 points and seven rebounds for Holy Cross in the defeat.
  • The Crusaders are 2-8 (.200) against the Bison over their last 10 games played.
