Crusaders welcome Colgate to Hart Center Arena Saturday

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's basketball program looks to get back into the win column on Saturday when they welcome Patriot League opponent Colgate to the Hart Center Arena at noon. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (8-6, 2-1 PL): 
  • The Crusaders were held to season-lows in points (39), field goal (28.6), and three-point (5.3) percentage in a 52-39 defeat to American on Wednesday. Senior Avery LaBarbera tallied her fifth straight double-double with game-highs in points (19) and rebounds (13).
  • Avery LaBarbera was named the GEICO Patriot League Player of the Week the conference offices announced Monday afternoon. LaBarbera matched a career-high with 30 points and corralled a personal-best 17 boards for her fourth straight double-double. LaBarbera has double-doubled in seven of the last eight games.
  • Holy Cross will play the next three straight games at home. On the season, the Crusaders are 5-3 in the Hart Center Arena during 2021-22 and have a 36-14 mark (.720) during their last 50 home contests.  
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS (2-14, 0-5 PL): 
  • Colgate heads to Worcester on a nine-game losing streak falling 65-62 to Navy on Wednesday. Morgan McMahon played all 40 minutes and scored a squad-best 21 points with six rebounds and three assists in the defeat.
  • The Raiders are at the bottom of the Patriot League in scoring offense (52.9), scoring margin (-12.1), and second to last in scoring defense (65.0).
  • Colgate is 3-22 (.136) over their last 25 games and 1-13 (.071) in their last 14 conference contests.
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross holds a 58-10 advantage in the series between the two programs which began back in 1991.
  • In their last meeting on February 13, 2021, Holy Cross earned a 61-40 victory. Four Crusaders scored in double-figures including then-freshman Bronagh Power-Cassidy who led all players with a game-high 13 points to go with five boards and four assists.
UPDATED HOLY CROSS SPECTATOR POLICY: 
Holy Cross Athletics has amended its spectator attendance policy at all athletic events. The tiered return guidelines listed below will be effective beginning on Friday, Jan. 14, until further notice. 
  • Spectator attendance at events will be limited to team complimentary pass lists and season ticket holders for men's and women's basketball and men's ice hockey.  Attendance at women's ice hockey games will be limited to a team pass list.
    • In the interest of player safety, courtside seating will not be available at basketball contests. Those with pre-purchased courtside seats may choose any open seat in the venue.
  • Proof of vaccination and a booster shot must be shown upon entry to the venue. The vaccine card must show two dates for Moderna or Pfizer and one date for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, in addition to one dose of a booster.
    • Proof of vaccination may come from showing a vaccine card, a photo of the card, or a digital vaccine record such as VaxYes.
    • Negative COVID-19 tests will not be sufficient for entry.
  • Children 5 years and under are not permitted to attend at this time.
  • Holy Cross is now requiring all visitors to wear surgical masks (or better). Standard surgical masks are appropriate; N95, KN95 and KF94 masks are encouraged, but not required. Cloth masks may not be worn unless accompanied by a surgical mask.
