The Holy Cross football team earned a No. 25 national ranking in the final American Football Coaches Association
FCS Coaches' Spring Top 25 Poll.
The Crusaders received 49 points in the poll to earn their
first national ranking since 2017.
In the shortened spring season, the Crusaders went 3-1, defeating Bucknell in the first-ever Patriot League Championship Game, 33-10, to win the team's second straight Patriot League title and eighth overall. The Crusaders boasted 15 All-Patriot League selections on the year, highlighted by six honorees on the first team and the Rookie of the Year in freshman quarterback
Matthew Sluka.
Holy Cross also made its second consecutive trip to the FCS playoffs in 2021, falling to eventual national runner-up South Dakota State in the first round. In addition to the team's Patriot League honorees, senior offensive lineman
Brian Foley was named a second team All-American by both
Stats Perform and
the AFCA, and Sluka was named a finalist
for the Jerry Rice Award.
The Crusaders will enjoy a short offseason before
opening the fall 2021 campaign at the University of Connecticut on Sept. 4. Holy Cross' home opener will take place on Sept. 11 against Merrimack. Season tickets for the 2021 Holy Cross football season will go on sale on Thursday, May 20.
