WEST POINT, N.Y.— Senior Michael Pichay captured gold in the triple jump as the Holy Cross men's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. The Crusaders placed fifth out of nine teams, with 53 points overall.

The Crusaders' fifth-place finish ties for the best mark in program history. Holy Cross last finished fifth in 1999. 

DAY TWO HIGHLIGHTS:

• Senior Michael Pichay won gold in the triple jump with a mark of 15.19 meters. His winning mark was slightly above the wind allowance, but he had another jump of 15.10 meters which breaks his own school record, previously set at 14.95 meters.
• Senior Gabe Piepergerdes took home a second-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.89. Piepergerdes' broke his own school record for the second time this season with his 51.89 today.
• Freshman Mike Mazzocca placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.58. Additionally, Mazzocca claimed a fifth-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 1.93 meters.
• Senior Daniel Dempsey placed sixth in the high jump, posting a mark of 1.93 meters.
• Junior Christopher Wallace posted a new personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 13.39 meters and finished seventh overall.
• The 4x400 relay team of junior Will Hornyak, junior John Gnibus, junior Corey Kumamoto and senior Gabe Piepergerdes finished in fourth-place with a time of 3:20.80.
