Holy Cross welcomes Brown to campus on Sunday

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following a 66-54 statement win over Rhode Island on Thursday night, the Holy Cross women's basketball team will welcome Brown University to campus Sunday, December 5 for a 12:00 tip. The contest will stream live on ESPN+.
 
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (4-3, 0-0 PL): 
  • Senior Avery LaBarbera notched her first double-double of the season and the fourth of her career scoring a team-high 20 points and snaring a game-best 10 rebounds in the Crusaders win. LaBarbera is currently the team leader in points (13.1) and rebounds per game (6.1).
  • The Crusaders rallied from an eight point first quarter deficit against URI on Thursday for their largest comeback win of the season. They also held the Rams to seven points in the third quarter, the lowest total Holy Cross has allowed this year.
  • LaBarbera is third in the Patriot League in three-point conversions per game (3.1). The guard comes in at 10th in the conference in scoring and 12th in rebounds per game.
  • As a team, Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in three point percentage against as opponents are shooting 26.8% from deep against the Crusaders. Their 37.5% field goal percentage against is third in the conference.

SCOUTING THE BEARS (2-6, 0-0 IVY): 
  • Brown is coming off two setbacks at the TD Bank Classic hosted by Vermont on November 27 and November 28. They lost to the host Catamounts 79-46 before falling to North Dakota 65-46. Brown has not played a game in a week since their Wednesday, December 1 contest versus New Hampshire was postponed.
  • Both Brown victories have come on the road as they were 2-3 away from their home court compared to 0-2 at home.
  • Kyla Jones paces the Bears ranking second in scoring (11.3), first in steals (3.0), and fourth in rebounding (2.8). Jones leads the Ivy League in steals per game.
  • Brown is shooting 25.3% from beyond the arc which is the second lowest efficiency in the Ivy League while their 35.9% field goal conversion rate is the third lowest.
 
LAST TIME THEY MET: 
  • Holy Cross holds a 6-2 advantage in the series between the two programs dating back to 1981.
  • During their last meeting on December 1, 2019, Holy Cross beat Brown 83-71 in Providence.
  • The Crusaders produced two double-doubles by Lauren Manis who scored 26 points and snared 12 rebounds while Megan Swords tallied 20 points and 12 boards. Kathryn Pedi came off the bench to score 18 points going a perfect 6-of-6 from three-point land.
