Crusaders open three-game homestand against Dartmouth

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross women's basketball team is set to return to the Hart Center for a three-game homestand beginning with Dartmouth on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.

The game will stream live on ESPN+. The Crusaders are hosting a canned food drive to benefit Veterans Inc of Worcester this week, and are asking fans to bring in non-perishable food items for donation. Fans will receive a voucher redeemable at the women's basketball game against UMass on Friday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. for bringing in non-perishable food items. 


WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT HOLY CROSS (0-2, 0-0 PL):
  • The Crusaders are still looking for their first win of the season after dropping most recently to Boston College, 75-50. Sophomore Bronagh Power-Cassidy led the Crusaders with 12 points, while senior Oluchi Ezemma led all players with seven rebounds.
  • Just two games into the young season, Power-Cassidy is Holy Cross' leading three-point shooter, connecting on 4-of-8 of her attempts from distance. The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year also leads the Crusaders with three blocks.
  • Senior Avery LaBarbera is the team's leading scorer, averaging 10.0 points per contest. LaBarbera is just 10 points shy of becoming the 35th player in program history to reach 1000 points.
  • Sophomore Janelle Allen made the first start of her career against Boston College after appearing in nine previous games for the Crusaders. Allen chipped in 10 points, four boards, two steals, a block and an assist against the Eagles.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN (0-2, 0-0 IVY):
  • After not playing a 2020-21 season, Dartmouth opened its 2021-22 campaign with two losses against Rhode Island, 83-37, and New Hampshire, 58-46.
  • The Big Green are led by Adrienne Shibles who is in her first season with Dartmouth. Shibles arrives as the fifth Big Green head coach in program history after spending 13 years at Bowdoin College.
  • Dartmouth was picked to finish in seventh place in the eight-team Ivy League.
  • Through two games, Mia Curtis is the top scorer for the Big Green, averaging 10.5 points per game.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross and Dartmouth haven't met since the 2017-18 season, with Dartmouth winning a Dec. 20, 2017 matchup, 76-74 in overtime in the Hart Center.
  • The Big Green lead the all-time series 10-5.
