Field hockey hosts Boston University on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass.— The Holy Cross field hockey team will host Boston University on Friday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. The Crusaders will be celebrating Senior Day on Friday, and will honor their five-member senior class with a special pregame ceremony.

The five Crusader seniors are Kerri Bolivar, Caitlin Little, Keely Smith, Lily Watson and Anna Vrountas. 

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS (6-9, 1-4 PL):
  • The Crusaders are coming off of a non-conference weekend split, defeating Villanova, 3-2, before falling against La Salle, 1-0.
  • Junior Sinead Walsh and sophomore Sarah Potter are tied to lead the Crusaders with 11 points. Walsh has tallied three goals and a team-high five assists for her 11 points, while Potter has posted one assist and a team-high five goals.
  • Freshman Meggan Fourie and sophomore Allie McDonough have each potted two game-winning goals for the Crusaders. Junior Isabella Henderson posted her first career game-winning goal in the 3-2 win over Villanova.
  • In goal, junior Emma Lauber and sophomore Brooke Ross have each continued to see time throughout the season, each posting three wins.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS (3-14, 1-4 PL):
  • The Terriers are currently on a three-game losing streak, falling to three ranked opponents. BU dropped contests to then-No. 24 Duke, 3-0, then-No. 19 American, 3-1, and then-No. 13 Harvard, 1-0.
  • Boston University's lone conference win this season came against Colgate, 3-1. The Crusaders also defeated Colgate for their lone conference win.
  • Payton Anderson leads the Terriers with eight goals and 19 points on the season. Her eight goals are tied for the fifth-best mark in the league. Casey Thompson leads BU with six assists.
  • In goal, Caroline Kelly has started all 17 games for the terriers and owns a .725 save percentage. Kate Thomason has seen action in seven games and owns a .565 save percentage.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • Holy Cross and Boston University last met during the 2020 season, played in the spring of 2021 due to COVID-19. The Terriers won that meeting, 2-1.
  • The Crusaders lone win in the series came during the first meeting of the two teams during the 1982 season.
