The Holy Cross men's basketball team will play at home for the second straight weekend, facing Colgate in a pair of games. The Crusaders and the Raiders will meet at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, then at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31. Saturday's game will be shown live by the Patriot League on ESPN+, while Sunday's contest will be televised live by the CBS Sports Network.
The Crusaders stand 2-6 overall this year and have lost their last four games. Junior forward
Gerrale Gates has been on fire, setting a new career high for scoring in each of his last three games, including 27 points against Lehigh on Sunday. Overall this year, he leads the team by averaging 18.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest, while hitting 74.1 percent of his free throws. Senior guard
Austin Butler has added 14.3 points, a Patriot League-best 8.9 boards and 1.4 steals per contest, while senior forward
Matt Faw is chipping in with 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots per game.
Colgate enters the week with an overall mark of 5-1 on the season. The Raiders have won four straight games, but have not played since Jan. 17 with last weekend's series against Bucknell being postponed. Senior guard Jordan Burns has led Colgate by averaging 17.0 points, 6.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while hitting 40.0 percent of his shots from three-point range. Senior guard Jack Ferguson has put up 13.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest, with junior guard Nelly Cummings contributing 12.8 points and 1.8 boards per game.Â
After the series with Colgate, Holy Cross is scheduled to face Army West Point in a pair of games on Feb. 6 and 7.
