Women's basketball to host American

The Holy Cross women's basketball team will host American on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

The game will be broadcasted live on Patriot League Network, with Andrew Luftglass on play-by-play and color commentary provided by Dan McLoughlin.

Things to Know About the Crusaders (10-6, 3-2 Patriot League):
  • Holy Cross comes off back-to-back losses, most recently falling at Army on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
  • Senior Megan Swords led the Crusaders against the Black Knights with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, along with four steals. Sophomore Avery LaBarbera had 11 points and senior Lauren Manis recorded 10 rebounds.
  • Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in rebounding, averaging 41.4 boards per game with a conference-best +5.7 rebounding margin. Manis (11.5 rebounds per game) and Swords (8.6 rebounds per game) rank second and fourth, respectively, in the Patriot League; Manis ranks sixth in Division I in that category.
  • The Crusaders have out-rebounded their opponents in 12 of 16 games overall this year and in every Patriot League contest.
  • Despite dropping their most recent home game vs. Bucknell on Jan. 11, the Crusaders are still 5-1 at the Hart Center this season and have won 18 of their last 23 home games.
Things to Know About the Eagles (6-9, 2-3 Patriot League):
  • American also enters the game off back-to-back losses against a pair of tough teams, falling to Lehigh on Jan. 11, 64-63, before dropping a 68-43 result at Bucknell on Wednesday.
  • Kaitlyn Marenyi led the Eagles with 16 points in the loss to Bucknell, while Maddie Doring finished with 10 points.
  • Jade Edwards has been American's top scorer this year, averaging 15.1 points per game – ranking third overall in the Patriot League – while also averaging a team-best 5.9 rebounds per game.
  • Indeya Sanders has totaled a team-best 71 assists, 14 blocks and 30 steals for the Eagles in 2019-20.
  • As a team, American ranks second in the Patriot League with an average of 3.1 blocked shots per game.
Last Time They Met:
  • The Eagles swept the season series against the Crusaders in 2019, earning a 70-58 come-from-behind victory on Jan. 30 in Washington before posting a 71-44 win in Worcester on Feb. 27.
  • Manis had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds at American, while then-sophomore Jenay Faulkner recorded 10 points.
  • In Worcester, then-rookie Oluchi Ezemma led the team with nine points while Swords and Manis had eight points each.
