WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team fell to Dartmouth in overtime, 2-1, at Hart Turf Field. Minke Koomen scored her second goal in as many games while Marcia LaPlante posted 11 saves.
In the second quarter, Dartmouth opened the scoring as Gracyn Campbell knocked one home. After a corner rebound was kicked out, Campbell was able to connect on the second chance. Koomen and the Crusaders responded less than 30 seconds later, as Madeline Alderfer split the defense and found Koomen for the goal.
The game remained even and scoreless through regulation. The Crusaders posted three shots to the Big Green's two in overtime, but in the 66th minute, Katie Spanos scored to give the Big Green the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Dartmouth outshot Holy Cross, 24-17.
- LaPlante's 11 saves is her second highest of the season.
- With the assist in the game, Alderfer now holds five assists on the year and is the team leader in points with seven.
