WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team defeated Sacred Heart University, 2-0, Friday evening.
The Crusaders got goals from Kristen Weber and Minke Koomen, as well as assists from Madeline Alderfer and Emily Devine. Marcia LaPlante, thanks to a strong Holy Cross defense, only had to make four saves to seal the win.
Holy Cross scored with a minute left in the first quarter thanks to a Weber-Devine connection. They would double their lead in final frame thanks to Alderfer and Koomen. The Crusaders outshot the Pioneers, 31-10,and earned more penalty corners, 8-7.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Devine, Weber, and Koomen all earned their first point of the season.
- Devine's assist was also the first point of her collegiate career.
