Senior right-handed pitcher Declan Cronin of the Holy Cross baseball team has been named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, April 2.
Cronin guided the Crusaders to a 4-1 victory over Lehigh on Saturday, March 30. He matched a career-high nine strikeouts while allowing just three total hits, no walks and one unearned run in seven-plus innings. Cronin faced the minimum through Lehigh's first seven innings, with his one hit in that span erased by a double-play in the fourth inning.
During his last six outings – 22 total innings – Cronin has allowed just two earned runs. He has earned the win in his last two appearances.
Cronin is the second consecutive Holy Cross pitcher to win Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, as sophomore righty Liam Dvorak earned the honor on March 26.
The Crusaders will next be in action on Wednesday, April 3 with a home nonconference game scheduled against Dartmouth. First pitch at Fitton Field is scheduled for 5:05 p.m.
