Sophomore right-handed pitcher Liam Dvorak of the Holy Cross baseball team has been named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, March 26.
Dvorak had one of his best outings to date in a 4-0 victory over Navy on Monday, March 25. He threw 8.0 shutout innings – the longest appearance of his career – while allowing just seven hits and one walk. Dvorak also matched his collegiate high in strikeouts, with seven on the day.
His efforts helped guide the Crusaders to their first shutout of Navy since the 2013 season.
Dvorak leads the Crusaders this year with a 3.63 ERA, 31 strikeouts and a 3-2 record. He has won his last two starts.
Holy Cross owns a 2-2 record in Patriot League play. The Crusaders will next play Harvard on Tuesday, with first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and will return home on Saturday, March 30 with a conference doubleheader against Lehigh set for 1 p.m.
