Holy Cross will play a home-and-home with Bentley on Feb. 22 and 23. The Crusaders will travel to Waltham on Friday, Feb. 22 for a 7:05 p.m. game. On Saturday, Feb. 23, Holy Cross will play its final regular season home game at 7:05 p.m.

 

Talking Points

• Holy Cross will take on Bentley for it's final home-and-home series of the 2018-19 season.

• The Crusaders are led by senior defenseman Johnny Coughlin, who has tallied 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists. Coughlin has recorded 17 career goals, ranking him second all-time among Holy Cross defensemen.

• Rookie Anthony Vincent also leads the Crusaders with 19 points. Vincent had recorded a team-best 15 assists.

• In the series with Robert Morris on Feb. 15 and 16, Dalton Skelly posted three assists. Skelly's two assists on Feb. 15 marks the third two-assist game in his career.

• The Crusaders found different contributions over the weekend with five different goal scorers: Logan Ferguson, Mitch Collett, Pete Kessel, Michael Laffin, and Vincent.

• On Feb. 16, Spencer Trapp tallied his 50th career assist on Laffin's game-winning goal.

Tommy Nixon earned his first career shutout on Feb. 16 with 32 saves. Nixon earned his second win of the 2018-19 season, after his first win on opening night against Canisius (Oct. 12).

Spencer Trapp leads the team's power play scoring with seven points from three goals and four assists.

• The Crusaders sit in a tie for ninth place in the league standings with 19 points. With four regular season games remaining, Holy Cross can finish as high as third in the standings. 

 

Laffin Strikes to Win

• Laffin's goal on Feb. 16 marked his fourth game-winning goal of the season and his eighth game-winning goal of his career.

• With four game-winning goals on the season, Laffin ranks fourth nationally. His eight career game-winners places him seventh on the all-time game-winning goal list at Holy Cross.

 

Defense to Offense

• The Crusaders' defensive core has accounted for 64 of the team's 203 points thus far.

• As a group, the defense have recorded 22 goals and 42 assists, accounting for 31.5% of the team's points.

• Coughlin and Trapp lead the defense in points. Coughlin has recorded 19 points and Trapp has posted 16.

 

League Leaders

• In Atlantic Hockey games, Anthony Vincent ranks third in frehsmen scoring with 19 points. He also ranks 10th in assists in Atlantic Hockey games (15).

• Coughlin ranks eighth in defensmen scoring in league games (17 points).

 

Defensmen Milestones

• Trapp and Coughlin are climbing the all-time defensemen points lists at Holy Cross.

• Coughlin ranks second all-time in career goals for Holy Cross defensemen with 17 in his career. Coughlin ranks third on the all-time single-season goals list with seven.

• Trapp ranks fourth all-time among Holy Cross defensemen in career points with 64.

 

Diverse Scoring

• The Crusaders have seen 19 different goal scorers on the season.

• Every player in the Crusaders' lineup has tallied at least one point. 

• No one player accounts for more than 11% of the team's scoring. 

 

Scouting Bentley

• The Falcons host the Crusaders with a 15-12-3 overall mark and 14-8-2 in league play. Bentley rode a 12-game unbeaten streak, from  Jan. 5 to Feb. 14. During that time the Falcons went 10-0-2.

• Niagara snapped the Falcon's streak on Feb. 15, winning 4-3.

• Luke Santerno leads the Falcons with 31 points on nine goals and 22 assists.

• With 14 goals, Jonathan Desbiens leads Bentley's scoring.

• On the power play, Bentley holds an 18.1% conversion rating. On the penalty kill, the Falcons have a 79.0% success rate.

• Aidan Pelino has played in all 30 games, recording a .901 save percentage and 2.65 goals against average.

 

Last Time Against the Falcons

• The Crusaders have dropped two games to the Falcons. On Oct. 26, Holy Cross fell, 7-4, and on Nov. 24 lost 4-2.
