WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross field hockey team lost to Dartmouth, 5-2, Sunday afternoon in Hanover, N.H. The Crusaders scored multiple goals in a game for the first time this season, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Big Green.
Junior goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante had another strong game for Holy Cross recording 22 saves on the day.
The Crusaders took a 2-1 lead in the first half. Dartmouth scored in the 6th minute, but senior Emily Loprete would answer less than two minutes later. She scored on a corner with assists from juniors Philomena Fitzgerald and Madeline Alderfer. The score remained tied for 15 minutes before senior Lauren Ineson would score to put the Crusaders up.
The Big Green would finish the game on a 4-0 run to take over the lead. Kira Koehler scored the go-ahead as well as the final goal for Dartmouth to give them the win.
Holy Cross will be back at it at home on Saturday for its Patriot League opener against American at 12:05 p.m.
