SHELTON, Conn. - The women's hockey defeated the Post Eagles, 9-0, on Saturday, Feb. 3. Senior Emily Lissner lead the Crusaders with three points on two goals and one assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

1-0 HC (1st, 1:03, EV): Senior Emily Lissner notched her 13th goal of the season from junior Tori Messina and freshman Katie MacCuaig.

2-0 HC (1st,11:55, PP): Messina recorded her second point of the game scoring in the 11th minute from junior Maeve Reilly and sophomore Hannah Gillis.   

3-0 HC (2nd, 5:16, EV): Junior Sam Girard found freshman Katie MaCuaig for her 11th goal of the season.

4-0 HC (2nd, 10:37, EV): Junior Danielle Doherty scored with eight minutes left in the second period from Lissner and junior Amanda Kewer.

5-0 HC (2nd, 17:54, PP): Senior Kara Violette netted her fifth power play goal of the season from freshman Antonia Matzka and Girard.

6-0 HC (3rd, 11:43, EV): Freshman Grace Peluso scored her fifth of the season and took the Crusader lead to six.

7-0 HC (3rd, 12:47, EV): Freshman Allison Attea hit a wrister from the left side that went bar down to take the lead to seven.

8-0 HC (3rd, 16:31, PP): Sophomore Victoria Young recorded her fifth goal of the season from Messina and Gillis.

9-0 HC (3rd, 19:49, EV): Lissner tallied her second goal of the game and took the Crusader lead to nine.  

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Sophomore Marcia LaPlante made 14 saves and improves to 3-0-0 on the season.
  • Lissner recorded two goals and one assists for three points. On the season, the senior forward has 22 points with 14 goals and eight helpers.
  • Messina recorded a goal and an assist and now has 14 points with five goals and nine assists on the season.
  • Girard notched her 12th helper of the season.
  • Holy Cross outshot Post 66-14.
  • The Crusaders went 2-2 on the power play.
