WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman Jenay Faulkner posted the first double-double of her career, but the Holy Cross women's basketball team fell to American 72-57 on Wednesday morning.
Faulkner earned a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, shooting 4-for-8 from the field. Sophomore Lauren Manis led the Crusaders with 13 points and added six rebounds. Senior Infiniti Thomas-Waheed also finished the game in double digits with 11 points and six rebounds. American was led by Maria Liddane, who posted 17 points while shooting 6-for-7. Emily Kinneston (15) and Cecily Carl (13) also finished the game in double digits.
The Eagles shot 39.7% (23-58) from the field, while the Crusaders posted 35.2% (19-54). From three-point range, Holy Cross had the edge with 35.0% (7-20) while holding American to 26.3% (5-19). The Eagles shot 87.5% (21-24) from the free throw line, as the Crusaders scored on 66.7% (12-18) of their chances.

- Following the game, Faulkner was selected as the Woman of the Match presented the United States Marines.
- She posted the first double-double of her career with 12 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- American jumped out to a seven-point lead early in the first quarter, but the Crusaders battled back to make it a three-point game heading into the second.
- Holy Cross began the next quarter with a 7-0 run to take control of the lead, but the Eagles had a 6-0 run of their own to respond and managed to build a 35-31 lead before heading into halftime.
- The Eagles led by as many as 10 points in the third quarter, but the Crusaders posted an 8-3 run to cut the deficit to six points before heading into the fourth.
- In the final frame, Holy Cross cut the deficit to three points before American put together an 11-2 run to build its lead and hold on for the 72-57 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Crusaders committed 22 turnovers while the Eagles posted seven, making it Holy Cross' biggest turnover differential of the season.
- American managed to grab 22 points off turnovers while holding the Crusaders to just two.
- Holy Cross had the edge in rebounding, 42-32.
