WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross men's rowing senior captain Vince LaMonte and freshman Nate Gould have earned 2017 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) All-Academic Team accolades.
To be eligible, a student-athlete needs to complete one full year at their school, be a letterwinner, record a cumulative grade-point average of 3.35 or greater and compete at the 2017 IRA National Championship Regatta.
LaMonte, who was a four-year member of the Holy Cross varsity eight, earns this honor for the second straight year. He was a member of the varsity four that placed fourth at the 2016 IRA National Championship and the varsity eight that finished a program-best 17th at the 2015 IRA National Championship. Most recently he was a member of the varsity four that won the third-level final at the 2017 IRA National Championship Regatta. He was a Veteran Leader in the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. He has qualified to represent the United States National Team at the 2017 Under 23 World Championship as a member of the lightweight four.
Gould was a member of the varsity eight during his first year as a Crusader. He competed as a member of the varsity eight that placed first at the Snake Regatta and set the course record time by 11 seconds, while he was a member of the varsity eight that placed third at the Murphy Cup (Mar. 25). He was also a member of the varsity eight that defeated No. 20 Drexel and set the school record time at the George Washington Invitational (Apr. 8). Most recently, he raced as a member of the varsity four that won the third-level final at the 2017 IRA National Championship Regatta.
