The Lead: The Crusaders took a 7-6 loss to Hartford in 10 innings of play on Thursday night in West Hartford, Conn.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Holy Cross took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as senior Anthony Critelli hit a solo shot home run to left field.
- Hartford tied the game in the bottom of the third inning, then took a 2-1 lead in the fourth with a solo home run.
- The Crusaders regained control of the lead with three runs on two hits in the top of the fifth. Holy Cross scored runs on a wild pitch and a passed ball before senior Josh Hassell brought home a third run with an RBI double.
- The Hawks added a run in the bottom of the fifth, and took the lead once again in the seventh with a pair of runs on two hits.
- In the eighth inning, Holy Cross answered with two runs to make it 6-5 in their favor. Senior Bill Schlich and sophomore Kellen McCormick brought home runs on back-to-back at-bats.
- In the bottom of the inning, Hartford added a run to tie the game up, eventually leading to extra innings.
- The Hawks earned the walk-off victory in the bottom of the 10th with an RBI single through the left side to score a runner from third base.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Hartford outhit the Crusaders 14-8.
- The Hawks left 10 runners on base, while Holy Cross left six.
- Freshman Ethan Dyer took the loss after pitching 0.1 innings in relief in the bottom of the 10th.

- Critelli led the Crusaders with a pair of runs scored while hitting 1-for-3 with an RBI.
