CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's hockey team fell to the Harvard Crimson, 8-3, Friday night at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Juniors Sam Girard, Maeve Reilly and Danielle Doherty led the Crusaders with one goal each. Freshman Julia Pelletier had a career-high 49 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Crimson came out strong in the first period and scored two minutes in. Freshman Keely Moy for Harvard found the net first. Girard answered back for the Crusaders and tied the game, 1-1, from a right-side shot from freshman Antonia Matzka. Reilly gave the Crusaders a 2-1 lead after scoring in the last 30 seconds of the first period from senior Kara Violette.
• Harvard scored first in the second period to tie the game, 2-2. Junior Danielle Doherty scored her first power play goal of the year to take back the lead. The Crimson answered back with a power play goal of their own with five minutes left in the second period. Harvard would go into the third period leading, 4-3.
• The Crimson took control in the third period and scored four more goals on the Crusaders.

TALKING POINTS:

Freshman Julia Pelletier recorded a career-high 49 saves against the Crimson and moves to 4-1-1 overall.

Violette leads the Crusaders in points and assists on the season (3-8-11).

Senior Kelsey Goostrey, freshman Katie MacCuaig and Doherty lead the team with four goals each through 10 games.
