WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross field hockey team took a narrow loss to Dartmouth on Tuesday night in Worcester despite senior Maureen Connolly's three goals. In the 11th minute, Connolly got the scoring started as she gained the ball off a turnover and scored with a shot as she entered the circle. Jocelyn Wulf had the tying goal for Dartmouth in the 13th minute with an unassisted tally. In the 24th minute Connolly found the back of the net for her second goal after a feed pass from junior Suzanne Noone into the circle. The Crusaders carried their 2-1 lead into the break at halftime.

In the 37th minute, Morgan Philie tied the game up for Dartmouth before Tatum Schultz scored the go-ahead goal just minutes later to make it 3-2. Connolly tied the game back up for Holy Cross in the 48th minute, as she carried the ball up midfield on a fast break and scored after entering the circle. Katie Spanos responded for the Big Green in the 49th minute of play, giving Dartmouth a 4-3 advantage. Holy Cross pulled sophomore goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante for an extra attacker with under two minutes to play, but the Crusaders were unable to find a tying goal in the closing minutes.

  • Prior to the game Tuesday, Holy Cross honored the four seniors on the team for their hard work and dedication to the program over the past four years. This year's senior class includes Connolly, Casey Considine, Sammy Gjeltema and Rachel Lapar.
