• The Lead: Holy Cross earned 10 points to place second overall at the 2016 Grass Court Doubles Tournament at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Sophomore Morgan McGuire and classmate Allison Reiling won the Flight B competition, earning wins over UMass Dartmouth (8-1), Colby-Sawyer (8-3) and Nichols (9-8; 10-8) in the process.
• Senior Isabela Bagi and junior Katie Elia fell in their opening match of the Flight A competition to Johnson and Wales (8-5), but earned victories over UMass Dartmouth (8-2) and Nichols (8-5) in the consolation bracket.
• After falling to Nichols, 8-4, in their opening match of the Flight C competition, sophomores Caroline Kam and Jennifer Kary earned wins over Bridgewater State (8-1) and Johnson and Wales (8-2).
• Nichols placed first overall in the tournament, amassing 16 points.

• Holy Cross returns to action this Thursday, Sept. 29, as they take on Connecticut College at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility with action beginning at 4:30 p.m.
