WORCESTER, Mass. — The Holy Cross women's tennis team was victorious on Friday afternoon at the Sinnott Family Tennis Facility picking up a 5-2 win over Assumption.

The Crusaders move to 2-0 on the season while the Greyhounds slide to 0-1.

DOUBLES ACTION:

• Holy Cross took two of three matches to earn the doubles point.
• Freshman Phoebe Devine and classmate, Margaret Winiecki picked up a 7-6 win at first doubles after winning the tie breaker 7-2 over Marie Knispel and Daria Trinerova.
• Freshman Hannah Flynn and senior Maddie Hamm bettered Laurence Bosmans and Madison Ericson 7-6 by capturing the tie breaker 7-2 at second doubles.

SINGLES PLAY:

• Holy Cross brought home four singles matches for the match win.
• Devine upended Knispel 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot.
• Flynn beat Bosmans 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2.
• Junior Alison Lynn defeated Carolina de Souza 6-7, 6-2, 10-8 at No. 5.
• Senior Ashley Zilora earned a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Madison Ericson at No. 6.

NEXT UP:

• The Crusaders will host the Holy Cross Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20-21 at noon.
