• The Lead: Sophomore midfielder Emily Loprete scored the game-winning goal for Holy Cross in the second overtime period at 93:24 as the Crusaders defeated Colgate, 2-1, in Patriot League action on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Holy Cross got off to a strong start in the first half, outshooting the Raiders 6-2.
• Loprete got the Crusaders on the board in the 33rd minute of play, as she got the ball from senior midfielder Lauren Sutherland off a restart and scored with a spinning shot.
• Colgate answered in the 50th minute of play, as Whitney Jones redirected a shot from a penalty corner to make it a 1-1 game.
• The Crusaders pressured Colgate through two overtime periods, earning three penalty corners in extra time and outshooting the Raiders 6-2.
• Loprete notched the game-winner in the 94th minute of play, as she scored off an assist from senior defender Rae Caliento, who found Loprete with a bullet pass.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Freshman goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante made eight saves to earn the win in net for Holy Cross.
• Maria Krull stopped 10 shots in net for the Raiders.
• Shots were 21-11 in favor of the Crusaders.
• Junior forward Maureen Connolly led Holy Cross with seven shot attempts and six on net.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Loprete now has five goals for the season, and 15 for her career. Her overtime goal was her first game-winning goal of the season, and the second of her career.
