• The Lead: The Crusaders took a 5-1 loss to Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon at Hanover Insurance Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Huskies took an early 2-0 advantage in the top of the first inning with a two-run home run.
• The Crusaders responded with a run in the bottom of the first as sophomore second baseman Cam O'Neill (Lynn, Mass.) cranked a solo home run to left field to make it a 2-1 game.
• In the bottom of the fifth inning, junior right fielder Josh Hassell (Tulsa, Okla.) smashed a triple to right field, followed by freshman designated hitter Travis Cloney (Wall, N.J.) and senior outfielder Bobby Indeglia (North Kingston, R.I.) each taking a walk to load the bases with one out. Up next, O'Neill hit a caught fly-ball to centerfield, as Hassell tagged-up at third base on the play but was thrown out while sliding into home plate, as Connecticut ended the inning damage-free.
• The Huskies added a run in the sixth inning and a pair of runs in the seventh to give them the 5-1 lead.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Connecticut outhit Holy Cross, 7-5.
• The Huskies left six runners on base, and the Crusaders left four.
• Freshman Declan Cronin (Montclair, N.J.) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits through six innings pitched.
• Joe Rivera earned the win for Connecticut, pitching 0.2 innings in relief.

 BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• O'Neill hit his first home run of the season and his second of his career.
