WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross freshman outfielder Travis Cloney (Wall, N.J.) has been named the Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week, for competition from April 18-24, as announced by the league. This is the first weekly award for Cloney in his career.
Cloney led the Crusaders with a .364 batting average over four games played this past week. He notched at least one run in each game played, totaling five for the week, and added three RBI with a double and one home run. He had his best day at the plate against Bucknell in game one on Sunday, going 1-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI and a home run. Cloney finished the week with a .588 on base percentage, and a .727 slugging percentage.
For the season, Cloney has notched 17 hits with 14 runs scored and 13 RBI in 33 games played. He also holds a near-perfect fielding percentage of .969 on the year, registering 29 putouts with two assists.
The Crusaders are scheduled to return to action this Wednesday, April 27, as they face Connecticut in a non-conference game at Hanover Insurance Park, beginning at 5:05 p.m.
