The Lead: The Crusaders earned four top-five finishes as Holy Cross opened its 2016 outdoor season with a fourth place finish at the Central Connecticut Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior Kalif Raymond (Lawrenceville, Ga.) won the 100 m dash with a time of 10.71.
- In the 400 m dash, junior Benjamin Ghiano (Iselin, N.J.) placed seventh in a time of 53.06, while sophomore Thomas Kalantzakos (Andover, Mass.) came in ninth at 53.76.
- Senior Joe Murphy (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) finished fifth in the 5k with a time of 15:40.32, as sophomore Alec Hilton (Fairfield, Conn.) placed eighth at 15:54.40.
- In the 110 m hurdles, freshman Brandon Thornhill (Natick, Mass.) placed fifth with a time of 16.01.
- In the pole vault, freshman Christopher Puntasecca (Wayne, N.J.) came in seventh with a mark of 3.65 m.
- Freshman Tom Chiappini (Reading, Mass.) came in fourth in the hammer throw, setting a distance of 39.96 m.
