• The Lead: Holy Cross senior Bobby Indeglia (North Kingstown, R.I.) batted 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run and four RBIs, but the Crusaders were edged by William & Mary, 12-11, in non-conference baseball action on Sunday afternoon at Plumeri Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Holy Cross gained a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as sophomore Cam O'Neill (Lynn, Mass.) plated senior Nick Lovullo (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) on a two-out, RBI-single.
• The Crusaders added another score in the top of the third, as junior Anthony Critelli (Holmdel, N.J.) belted a solo home run over the center-field fence to give Holy Cross a 2-0 edge.
• William & Mary countered in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of runs to knot the score at 2-2.
• Holy Cross, however, answered in the top of the fourth inning, as Indeglia launched a three-run shot to bring in sophomore Thomas Russo (Weston, Mass.) and freshman Travis Cloney (Wall, N.J.) and give the Crusaders a 5-2 advantage.
• The Tribe scored a pair in the bottom of the fourth to make it a one-run game (5-4), but Holy Cross went back up by three (7-4) in the top of the fifth. Cloney made it a two-run lead (6-4) with an RBI-double to score Russo, while Indeglia brought home Cloney later in the frame to put the Crusaders up three (7-4).
• William & Mary again cut into the deficit with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, but again the Crusaders answered with two scores of their own in the top of the sixth. Lovullo crossed home on an error for the first run of the frame and O'Neill plated Critelli on a double down the left-field line to put Holy Cross ahead, 9-6
• The Tribe, however, tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a trio of runs to make the score 9-9.
• Holy Cross broke the stalemate in the top of the seventh, as Cloney drove in junior Alex Voitik (Shorewood, Ill.) on an RBI-single, but William & Mary grabbed its first lead of the contest with three scores in the bottom of the seventh to gain a 12-10 lead.
• The Crusaders had a chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on second and third, Indeglia scored on a groundout by Critelli. William & Mary, however, was able to retire the final batter on the inning and claim a 12-11 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Tribe reliever Kinston Carson earned the victory (1-0), as he allowed one run on three hits in one inning pitched. William & Mary closer Joseph Gaouette earned his third save of the season as he gave up one unearned run in the ninth inning.
• Crusader senior reliever Sean Gustin (Stoneham, Mass.) was charged with the loss (0-1) as he surrendered three runs on two hits in two innings pitched.
• Holy Cross held an 18-11 advantage in total hits, as William & Mary held a 6-5 edge in extra-base hits.
• Critelli batted 4-for-6 with two runs, a homer and a pair of RBIs, while Cloney hit 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs as well.
• Lovullo (2-for-4), O'Neill (2-for-5) and Russo (2-for-5) all had multiple-hit games for Holy Cross.
• Both teams struggled in the field, as Holy Cross committed five errors to William & Mary's four miscues.
