  • The Lead: Five players scored in double figures as Holy Cross came up short to Yale by a score of 71-70 in overtime on Sunday afternoon in Worcester.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Junior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed led the Crusaders with 15 points and registered nine rebounds.
  • Freshman guard Madalyn Smith (14), junior forward Amy Hasenauer (14), freshman forward Lauren Manis (11) and junior guard Katie Doherty (10) also scored in double figures for Holy Cross.
  • Manis registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Meghan McIntyre led Yale with 22 points, shooting 8-for-15 from the field.
  • Megan Gorman earned a double-double for the Bulldogs with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Holy Cross led Yale by a score of 17-15 following a back-and-forth first quarter, which was capped off by an 8-0 run.
  • The Crusaders held onto their lead throughout the second quarter, and took a 35-31 lead into the locker room at halftime.
  • Both teams battled through a hard-fought third period in which the lead changed five times and the score was tied twice.
  • Heading into the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs held a 51-47 advantage.
  • After Yale held on to a narrow lead throughout the fourth quarter, Doherty received the ball off an inbound and drove to the net for a game-tying layup with six seconds remaining to send the game to overtime.
  • Through the five-minute overtime period, the lead changed four times before Yale earned the final points of the night.
  • Lena Munzer scored a layup for the Bulldogs with 24 seconds remaining to put Yale up 71-70.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • This was the first time five Crusaders had scored in double figures since Feb. 13, 2016.
  • Manis earned her fourth double-double of the season.
  • Thomas-Waheed has scored in double figures in all six games this season, while leading the Crusaders in scoring in five of the first six games of the season.
