  • The Lead: Junior guard Infiniti Thomas-Waheed led the Crusaders with 16 points as Holy Cross was edged by Dartmouth, 53-49, on Wednesday afternoon in Hanover, N.H.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Thomas-Waheed had a game-high 16 points with six rebounds and three steals.
  • Senior forward Madelyn Ganser led Holy Cross with seven rebounds and notched four points.
  • Kate Letkewicz earned a double-double for Dartmouth with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Isalys Quinones had 10 points with six rebounds, five assists and four steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Both teams kept it close in the early stages of the first quarter, as they played to a 9-9 tie before the first media timeout.
  • The Big Green held a narrow lead for most of the quarter, and pulled ahead for a 16-14 lead with 17 seconds left before the end of the quarter.
  • Dartmouth extended its lead to start the second quarter, but Holy Cross battled back to tie it up at 21.
  • The Crusaders took a 25-24 lead with three minutes remaining, but the Big Green pulled ahead in the final minute to take a 27-25 lead into the locker room.
  • After Holy Cross tied the game with the first basket of the second half, Dartmouth jumped out to a six point lead and held on to a narrow advantage for the remainder of the third quarter. The Big Green carried a 40-36 lead into the fourth.
  • The Crusaders tied the game at 40 in the first minute of the final quarter, but could not gain the lead.
  • Dartmouth regained the advantage but did not lead by more than five points for the remainder of the game.
  • Holy Cross pulled within two points with 17 seconds remaining, but could not overcome the deficit set by Dartmouth.
  • The Big Green made it 53-49 with a pair of free throws with four seconds remaining to secure the final score.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Thomas-Waheed has led the Crusaders in scoring in four of the first five games of the season.
