• The Lead: The Holy Cross field hockey team came up short to Dartmouth, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon in Hanover, N.H.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Crusaders outshot Dartmouth 7-3 in the first half,
• Morgan Philie put the Big Green on the board first, as she scored off a penalty corner in the 44th minute of play to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead.
• Junior forward Maureen Connolly tied the game up for Holy Cross in the 51st minute, as she notched an unassisted goal to make it a 1-1 game.
• Dartmouth threatened to regain the lead with 17 minutes remaining in the second half, but freshman goalkeeper Marcia LaPlante made a diving save to stop a shot from the top of the circle.
• The Big Green took a 2-1 lead in the 69th minute of play, as Carmen Braceras tipped a shot in front of the net to score the game-winner for Dartmouth.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• LaPlante made 10 saves in the loss for Holy Cross.
• Hailey Valerio made four saves in 49:24 of playing time, while Emma Plumb allowed one goal in 20:36 and was credited with the win.
• Shots attempted were 18-9 Big Green.
• Connolly led the Crusaders with five shots attempted, including one on goal.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

• Connolly's goal was her 12th of the season, and the 28th of her career. She now has 69 points for her career, which rank 10th all-time in program history.
