Women?s Rowing Names 2015-2016 Captains

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's rowing program has named senior Colleen Hynes (Maywood, N.J.), senior Kayla Zenk (Kent, Conn.) and junior Maggie Diggins (Holden, Mass.) as its 2015-2016 captains.

Hynes rowed for the second varsity eight this past spring season. She was a part of the club double that placed first at the Textile River Regatta. She was also a member of the championship four "B" that finished 14th out of 42 boats at the 42nd Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. Also this past season, Hynes was a member of the second varsity eight that finished in fourth place at the Patriot League Championship. She has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll twice.

As a junior, Zenk was a member of the varsity eight that finished third at the Patriot League Championship and second out of 16 teams at the Murphy Cup. As a sophomore, Zenk won the team's "Crewsader" Award given out to the team MVP and was also a part of the open four that placed second out of 40 boats at the 42nd Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. Zenk is a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2014.

Diggins rowed as a member of the varsity eight in all four fall regattas and five spring regattas last year. She was a member of the Championship Pair "A" that finished first at the 42nd Head of the Schuylkill Regatta. In her first season, Diggins was the only freshman on the team to be a member of the varsity eight in all six spring regattas and was a member of the freshman eight that won the novice eight race at the Textile River Regatta. Diggins is also a member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. She attended the U.S. National Team Pre-Elite Camp in the Summer of 2014. 

Both Zenk and Diggins were both a part of the varsity eight this past season. They were both members of the varsity eight that finished in third place at the Patriot League Championship and first in the petite final of the Eastern Sprints. The varsity eight also placed ninth out of 31 boats at the Knecht Cup and second out of 16 teams at the Murphy Cup.
