BOSTON, Mass. - Former Holy Cross forward Malcolm Miller (Laytonsville, Md.) has signed with the Boston Celtics to play on their team in the 2015 Utah Jazz and Las Vegas Summer Leagues. Miller will be one of 13 players on the roster, which includes two current Celtics, four 2015 draft selections, one 2013 draft pick, a European veteran and five free agents.
Miller will be playing alongside 2015 draft picks Terry Rozier, R.J. Hunter, Jordan Mickey and Marcus Thornton, and current Celtics Marcus Smart and James Young. They will also be joined on the roster by 2013 Celtics draft pick Colton Iverson, European veteran Eric Buckner, and free agents C.J. Fair, Jonathan Holmes, Royce O'Neale and Corey Walden.
Miller averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 blocked shots, 1.3 steals and 1.2 assists per game this season, while connecting on 37.2 percent of his three-point field goal attempts (45 of 121) and 83.0 percent of his free throws (117 of 141). He finished the season ranked second in the Patriot League in blocked shots, fourth in free throw percentage, seventh in steals, eighth in scoring, 14th in three-point field goals made and 15th in rebounding. Miller led the team in scoring 13 times and in rebounding 13 times this year, while scoring in double-figures 25 times. During his career with the Crusaders, he totaled 1,013 points, 532 rebounds, 164 assists, 143 blocked shots and 93 steals. Miller ranks third all-time at Holy Cross in career blocked shots and sixth in career games started (93).
The Celtics' first game in the Utah Summer League will be Monday, July 6, at 10:00 p.m. ET when they take on the host Utah Jazz. The Celtics' three-game schedule in Utah continues with match-ups against the Philadelphia 76ers on July 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET and the San Antonio Spurs on July 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
The Celtics will then travel to Nevada for the Vegas Summer League and play their first game on Saturday, July 11, at 8:00 p.m. ET against the Portland Trail Blazers. They will continue their schedule with games against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, July 12 (10:30 p.m. ET) and against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, July 14 (7:00 p.m. ET). The Celtics will compete in three preliminary round games from July 11-14 before being seeded in a tournament that starts on July 15 and concludes with the championship game on July 20. The Celtics are guaranteed to play at least five games in the Vegas Summer League. Games between July 15-20 will be announced by the NBA at a later date.
