  • Records: Presbyterian (7-3); Holy Cross  (1-6)
  • Pitching Decision: W: Tanner Chock (1-0) | L: Collin Manning (0-1)
  • Location: Clinton, S.C. (PC Baseball Complex)
  • The Lead: Presbyterian outfielder Brandon Martin batted 2-for-3 and drove in the winning run in the 11th inning to help lead the Blue Hose to an 8-7 victory over Holy Cross in non-conference baseball action on Saturday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After two scoreless frames, Holy Cross grabbed the 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly by junior Nick Lovullo (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) to score freshman Cam O'Neill (Lynn, Mass.). The Blue Hose, however, responded with a run in the bottom of the third to knot the game at 1-1.
  • Holy Cross broke the stalemate in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs, senior Evan Ocello (Camarillo, Calif.) doubled into the right-center gap. After a Lovullo walk to put two Crusaders on base, St. Clair brought both home on a double down the left-field line to give Holy Cross the 3-1 lead. Sophomore Anthony Critelli (Holmdel, N.J.) then singled through the right side to score St. Clair and put the Crusaders ahead by four. Critelli scored the final run of the frame during the next at bat on an RBI-double by junior Connor Perry (Haverhill, Mass.) to give Holy Cross the 5-1 advantage.
  • Presbyterian cut the deficit to 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, as both Ryan Hendrick and Jacob Midkiff crossed home for the Blue Hose in the frame. The hosts added four more runs in the bottom of the eighth on five hits to gain the 7-4 advantage.
  • Holy Cross, however, rallied in the top of the ninth to tie the ballgame at 7-7. Indeglia scored the first Crusader run of the inning on an RBI-single by St. Clair, while Ocello crossed home on a sacrifice fly by Critelli later in the frame.
  • In the bottom of the 11th, Weston Jackson reached first on an error to lead off the inning. After moving over to second on a wild pitch, Jackson scored later in the frame on an RBI-double by Martin for the 8-7 walk-off victory.
