  • Records: Holy Cross (13-16, 9-7 PL); Navy (15-12, 9-7 PL)
  • Location: Worcester, Mass. (Hart Recreation Center)
  • The Lead: Holy Cross senior forward Emily Parker (Johnston, Iowa) totaled 12 points and seven rebounds to help lead the Crusaders to a 48-44 triumph over Navy on Saturday afternoon at the Hart Center. For her performance, Parker received the Rev. George L. TURNING POINT:

  • Navy held the 41-36 edge at the 5:47 mark of the second half, after leading for much of the second stanza. The Crusaders, however, erupted on a 10-0 surge to gain the 46-41 advantage (1:59). Navy would get no closer than two points for the remainder of the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a slow start to the game by both teams, the Crusaders held the 11-5 advantage at the 11:58-mark of the first half. The two squads traded possessions over the next nine-plus minutes, before Holy Cross grabbed the 19-12 lead with 2:59 on the clock. Navy was able to slice the deficit to 22-19 at the half on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Taylor Dunham.
  • Navy began the second half on a 10-2 rally to gain the 29-24 lead (16:23), before it increased its advantage to six points (34-28) at the 11:21-mark of the half. Back-to-back buckets by junior forward Raquel Scott (Ridgewood, N.J.) and junior center Molly Hourigan (Memphis, N.Y.) cut the margin to two points (34-32), but a 5-2 spurt by Navy gave it the 39-34 advantage (5:47).
  • The Mids kept the five-point, 41-36, lead with 5:47 on the clock, before the Crusaders began their comeback. Holy Cross erupted on a 10-0 surge to gain the 46-41 advantage (1:59) on the back Scott layup from a pass by Parker.
  • The Mids answered with a three-pointer to make it a one-possession game with 1:39 on the clock (46-44), but Parker hit a 12-foot jumper off a baseline dish by freshman guard Katie Doherty (Holbrook, N.Y.) with 20 ticks left to make the score its final, 48-44.
