THE TURNPIKE TROPHY:

· The game between the Crusaders and the Terriers was the opener of the inaugural Turnpike Trophy competition, in which Boston University now holds a 1-0 lead.

· Hammel was selected as the game's Turnpike Trophy MVP.

· This athletic series between the in-state Patriot League rivals awards points for all head-to-head victories in both the regular season and postseason, with the Turnpike Trophy going to the school which accumulates the most points at the end of the academic year.

· The next Turnpike Trophy match-up comes on Oct. 21, when the Holy Cross and Boston University women's soccer teams meet in Boston.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

· The Terriers opened the scoring 15:21 into the first half when Hammel knocked home a rebound after freshman goalkeeper Megan Inch (Perth, Scotland) made a save on a shot by Sofi Laurito.

· Hammel added her second goal off a feed from Rachel Coll on a penalty corner, before Grace Boston scored a goal to put the Terriers up 3-0

· With just 11 seconds left before halftime, Hammel put home another rebound to give Boston University a 4-0 lead.

· Early in the second half, freshman Lauren Ineson (Shrewsbury, Mass.) intercepted a pass in front of the Terriers' goal and knocked it home to make the score 4-1.

· Amanda Cassera and Boston would then add goals for Boston University later in the second half to conclude the scoring.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

· Inch finished the night by making a career-high 11 saves.

· Ineson's goal was her fifth of the season, which now ties her for second on the team.

UP NEXT:

· The Crusaders return to action on Sunday, Oct. 11, when they play host to Cornell at 1:05 p.m.
