The Lead: Senior Dennis Muldoon (Weymouth, Mass.) was the top runner for the Crusaders as the Holy Cross men's cross country team finished seventh out of 10 teams at the Patriot League Championship. Navy won the championship with 19 points, followed by Boston University (88 points), Army West Point (91 teams), Lehigh (95 points), American (103 points), Bucknell (133 points), Holy Cross (235 points), Lafayette (250 points), Colgate (257 points) and Loyola (Md.) (274 points).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Muldoon finished 30th out of 98 runners with a time of 25:55.7.
- Junior Michael Andre (Feeding Hills, Mass.) was 49th with a time of 26:49.3, while junior John Bentivegna (Staten Island, N.Y.) was 50th with a time of 26:54.0. Junior Henry Dodge (Rumford, R.I.) placed 51st with a time of 26:55.2 and freshman Joseph Prunty (New York, N.Y.) was 55th with a time of 27:17.7.
- Navy's Lucas Stalnaker won the championship with a time of 25:00.2.
UP NEXT
- The Crusaders are back in action on Friday, Nov. 13 when they compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional in Boston at 11:00 a.m.
THE TURNPIKE TROPHY:
- This was the first ever men's cross country meet in the Turnpike Trophy competition.
- Boston University earned the point by placing in front of the Crusaders as the Terriers were second and Holy Cross was seventh.
- This athletic series between the in-state Patriot League rivals awards points for all head-to-head victories in both the regular season and postseason, with the Turnpike Trophy going to the school that accumulates the most points at the end of the academic year.
- Boston University holds a 5-0 lead in the season series after the Terriers also won in field hockey (Oct. 9), women's soccer (Oct. 21), men's soccer (Oct. 28) and women's cross country (Oct. 31).
