  • The Lead: Notre Dame's Briana Turner had a game-high 19 points to go along with seven rebounds to help lead the third-ranked Fighting Irish to a 104-29 victory over Holy Cross in non-conference women's basketball action on Sunday evening at Purcell Pavilion.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Notre Dame jumped out to the early 5-0 lead just over a minute into the contest, before Holy Cross junior guard Lisa Mifsud (Erie, Pa.) canned a three-pointer to make the score 5-3 (18:41).
  • The Fighting Irish, however, embarked on an 18-2 rally to gain the 23-5 advantage with 13:44 left in the first half.
  • The Crusaders ended the run on a three-pointer by junior guard Kate Gillespie (Washington, D.C.) to make the score 23-8 (13:25), but Notre Dame ended the half on a 23-8 surge to head into the locker room with the 46-16 lead.
  • The Fighting Irish exploded out of the gate in the second half and scored 21 straight points to gain the 67-16 lead (14:40). Notre Dame kept up the pressure and outscored the Crusaders 37-13 over the remainder of the game to claim the 104-29 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Senior forward Emily Parker (Johnston, Iowa) led the Crusaders with six points and a team-best nine rebounds, while Gillespie and junior forward Raquel Scott (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored six points apiece.
  • In addition to Turner for Notre Dame, Jewell Loyd (17), Kathryn Westbeld (15) and Michaela Mabrey (11) all scored double-digit points.
  • The Fighting Irish shot 51.2 percent from the floor (42-82), while the Crusaders connected on 11-of-59 from the field (18.6%). Notre Dame canned 8-of-16 from behind the arc (50.0%), while Holy Cross hit 16.7 percent from long range (3-18).
  • Notre Dame held the advantage in rebounds (64-32), assists (28-9) and points in the paint (64-4).
