Holy Cross Athletics

WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Camilo Illanes has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 20-26. Illanes went 3-0 in singles action and 1-0 in doubles play for the Holy Cross men's tennis team last week.

During Wednesday's 9-0 win over Clark, he posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Tanner Honnef at No. 2 singles, while teaming with sophomore Matt Maggiacomo to defeat Honnef and Ryan Hovey 8-1 at No. 2 doubles. Illanes also posted a pair of wins over Patriot League opponents at No. 6 singles over the weekend. He downed Nick Haggar of Loyola (Md.) 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday, then defeated Sam Gelber of Lafayette 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday.

Overall this season, Illanes stands 5-5 in singles and 2-1 in doubles.

Holy Cross (4-8 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) returns to action on Saturday, April 1, when it plays host to Merrimack at 12 p.m.
