Junior linebacker Jacob Dobbs of the No. 24 Holy Cross football team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for Nov. 22 to 28.
Dobbs led a strong defensive effort for the Crusaders, who won their first-ever NCAA D-I football championship subdivision (FCS) playoff game in a 13-10 victory over Sacred Heart on Saturday, Nov. 27.
He matched a career high with 18 tackles on the day, including 12 solo tackles, along with recording 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
This season, Dobbs is tied for third among all FCS players with 130 tackles on the year, and ranks tied for fourth with 71 solo tackles. He is additionally responsible for 17.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks this season. He was recently named the Patriot League’s Defensive Player of the Year and a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented to the top defensive player at the FCS level.
Dobbs and the Crusaders will face fifth-seeded Villanova in the second round of the FCS playoffs on Friday, Dec. 3. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
