Senior Kelly Nelson of the Holy Cross softball team has been named the Hilton Garden Inn Crusader of the Week for March 28-April 3.

Nelson took the circle for three starts this past week helping the Crusaders to a 2-1 mark in those contests. She went the distance in all three starts recording two shutouts, a 0.33 earned run average, a .178 batting average against, and 25 strikeouts across the 21 frames.

 At Dartmouth on Wednesday, Nelson punched out seven batters in the 5-0 Crusader victory. She followed that up with a masterful performance Sunday recording her 12th complete game and fourth shutout of the season matching a single-season personal-best in wins (seven) while sending down eight batters via strikeout in the 3-0 win.

Currently, Nelson has totaled 496 career strikeouts and needs only four more to become the second Crusader in program history to achieve 500 career punch outs. She is 84 away from breaking the program record of 579 set by Genoa Grosch (1996-99).

The Crusaders (9-20, 3-3 PL) battle Hartford on Tuesday in an away non-conference doubleheader at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.
