WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross field hockey senior midfielder Maguire Sturgis was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the conference's head coaches, and announced by the league Thursday.

Sturgis had a career year on the midfield line for the Crusaders in 2025, recording career-highs in points, goals, and game-winning goals. Sturgis' nine goals and 23 points led Holy Cross and ranked sixth and fifth in the Patriot League, respectively. Sturgis scored the game-winning goals in a 2-1 win over Georgetown and the 2-0 shutout of Lehigh.

This is Sturgis' second-straight Preseason All-Patriot League honor. A four-year starter, Sturgis enters her final season at Holy Cross with 46 points on 15 goals and 16 assists in 49 games.

Holy Cross opens its 2026 campaign on Friday, Aug. 28 at the Hart Turf Field when they take on Stonehill at 6 p.m.
