Men's Track & Field

Men’s track and field shatters two school records, competes at Northeastern and Duke

The Holy Cross men's track and field team competed at the Jay Carisella and Joe Donahue Coaches Invitational, hosted by Northeastern, as well as the Duke Twilight meet over the weekend of May 2-3.

Junior Joseph Mahon turned in the performance of the night in the 5,000m, becoming the first runner in program history to break 14 minutes in the 5K. His record time of 13:54.70 surpassed previous record holder Mark Murray's 1978 time of 14:18.02. Mahon now ranks fourth in the Patriot League in the 5,000m.

The men's 4x400m relay team also etched their names into the record books on Sunday evening. Juniors Logan Mott Tristan Miller, sophomore Brendan Rogers, and freshman Willem Martino clocked in a time of 3:16.26 to break the previous 18 year old program record set back on May 17, 2008.

JAY CARISELLA / JOE DONAHUE COACHES INVITATIONAL MEET HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • Sophomore Jack Larkin placed second in the men's 5,000m with a time of 14:43.15.
  • Senior Ben Stone placed sixth in the 5,000m with a time of 14:58.62.
  • Senior Luke Wadzinski finished seventh in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 57.46.
  • Sophomore LJ Hines placed sixth in the triple jump with a best mark of 12.88m.
  • Freshman Padraig DeMarr came in eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.71m.
DUKE TWILIGHT MEET HIGHLIGHTS: 
  • Senior Liam Lyons placed fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 3:40.22.
  • Senior Jack Ryan had a personal best throw of 62.60m to finish seventh in the javelin.
  • Freshman Nic Oglesby cleared a personal best height of 2.01m in the high jump, finishing eighth.
  • Junior Chandler Dicks and sophomore Tireni Asenuga finished fourth in the long jump with marks of 7.17m and 6.92m.
  • Asenuga also placed 12th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.22m.
UP NEXT: 
  • The Crusaders will return to action at the 2026 Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Competition will take place from Friday, May 15 to Saturday, May 16.
