WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team will open its Atlantic Hockey America Tournament when it hosts RIT for the quarterfinal round. The best-of-three series is set for Friday, March 6, Saturday, March 7, and, if necessary, Sunday, March 8 at the Hart Center Rink.
Friday and Saturday's matchups are set for 7 p.m., with the if needed tie-breaking game on Sunday at 5 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on FloSports.
Holy Cross finished the regular season with a 16-16-2 overall record, while going 14-10-2 in conference play, good for the no. 4 seed in the Atlantic Hockey tournament.
Junior
Jack Stockfish leads the Crusaders and is tied for sixth in Atlantic Hockey with 31 points on 12 goals and 19 assists. Stockfish's .583 faceoff win percentage leads the league, while his 395 faceoff wins ranks second in Atlantic Hockey and sixth in the nation. Senior
Matt DeBoer sits in a tie for second in the league with four game-winning goals, and his .43 goals-per-game average ranks fifth. Senior
Jack Seymour leads Atlantic Hockey with a +17 rating.
Freshman netminder and reigning Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week
Danick Leroux closed the regular season with a 10-7-1 record, 2.66 goals-against average, and .902 save percentage.
RIT finished the regular season with an 17–15-2 overall record and a 13-11-2 conference record, taking the no. 5 seed in the tournament after being swept by Holy Cross in the final weekend of the regular season.
RIT is led on offense by Evan Kenyan, Austin Brimmer, and Zach Wigle, who each recorded 23 points in the regular season. Netminder Jakub Krbecek, who backstopped 31 of the Tigers' 34 games, carries a 17-13-1 record, 2.25 goals-against average, and .918 save percentage into the postseason.
All time, the Crusaders are 19-34-8 against RIT, including a 5-6-0 mark in tournament play. The two teams last met last weekend at the Hart Center Rink, where Holy Cross took both games by 5-1 and 3-2 decisions. Despite the commanding RIT lead in the all-time series, the Crusaders are 7-3-0 in the last ten meetings between the two teams.
The winner of the series will move on to the Atlantic Hockey semifinals next weekend, March 13-15.
