Men's ice hockey hosts RIT for Senior Night and Alumni Night

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team welcomes RIT to the Hart Center Rink to close out the regular season on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28, both at 7 p.m. Both games will stream live on FloHockey, while Friday's matchup will be simulcast on NESN+.

Friday's matchup is the team's Senior Night, where the program will recognize the Class of 2026 for their dedication to the program: Louden Hogg, Lachlan Getz, Timothy Heinke, Michael Abgrall, Matt DeBoer, Devin Phillips, Mack OliphantJack Seymour, and Joe Solimine.

Prior to Saturday's matchup, the program will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 2005-06 Atlantic Hockey Championship team, and their win over Minnesota in the opening game of the NCAA Tournament.

THE CRUSADERS (14-16-2, 12-10-2 AHA):
  • Holy Cross looks to bounce back after being swept on the road by Sacred Heart last weekend.
  • The Crusaders, however, find themselves in a tie for fourth in Atlantic Hockey, though just three points out of second place in the league.
  • Sophomore Matt Kursonis extended his point streak to eight games - tied for the second-longest active streak in the nation - last weekend, picking up an assist in each of the games at Sacred Heart. Since the streak began on Jan. 29 against Army, the West Boylston, Mass. native has posted ten points on two goals and eight assists, and has 17 points on five goals and 12 assists overall this season.
  • Junior Jack Stockfish was named a candidate for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award. Stockfish enters the weekend with  25 points on nine goals and 16 assists. 
  • Stockfish's 371 face-off wins this season ties for the Atlantic Hockey lead and is tied for fifth in the nation. His .586 success rate leads Atlantic Hockey.

SCOUTING RIT (17-13-2, 13-9-2 AHA):
  • RIT played a pair of weekday games last week, hosting Niagara in a 2-1 win on Tuesday, before falling to Bentley on Friday, 4-3.
  • The Tigers have benefited from quite the turnaround from last season to this one, finishing the 2024-25 campaign with a 10-23-2 (9-15-2) record and ninth-place finish, to a 17-13-2 (13-9-2 AHA) record in 2025-26, finding themselves in a tie for second.
  • RIT is led on offense by Evan Konyen (12-11-23), Austin Brimmer (8-15-23), and Christian Catalano (10-11-21). Netminder Jakub Krbecek has backstopped 29 of the Tigers' 32 games this season, posting a 2.16 goals-against average and .921 save percentage.

ALL TIME SERIES:
  • RIT holds the all-time series lead at 34-17-8, dating back to 2006.
  • The two teams have been even in the last ten matchups dating back to the 2022-23 season, with each side taking five games.
  • The teams last met in Rochester on Feb. 7 and 8, 2025. The Crusaders' tied the program record for score margin in the first game, winning 9-2, before shutting out the Tigers, 3-0, in the second game.
