WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross field hockey junior Ava Huntley was named Patriot League Forward of the Week while freshman Abby Kent was named both Patriot League Defender and Rookie of the Week, as voted on by the Patriot League coaches and announced by the league offices Monday afternoon.

Huntley received her first career Patriot League honor following the Crusaders' 2-1 shootout win over American on Sunday. Huntley opened the scoring for both sides, getting ahead of the Eagles' defense and receiving a pass on her backhand and sending a reverse chip that banked off the crossbar and into the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Kent earned both defender and rookie honors after recording a defensive save and scoring on her shootout attempt to help the Crusaders to clinch a spot in the Patriot League playoff for the first time since 2020. Kent's defensive save came during American's lone penalty corner opportunity of the fourth quarter, preserving the 1-1 tie with 9:21 to play in regulation. In the shootout, Kent converted on her attempt in the fifth round to clinch the win for Holy Cross. Kent, who played all 75 minutes, helped the Crusader defense to limit American to eight shots, only four of which were on net.

Holy Cross (8-5, 3-2 PL) will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to face Colgate for its final game of the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 31.
