Men’s ice hockey returns home to host Army

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's ice hockey team returns home to face Army for a midweek series on Thursday, Jan. 29 and Friday, Jan. 30. The two games, which are both slated for 7 p.m., will stream live on FloHockey, while Friday's game will be simulcast on NESN+.

Thursday's matchup will be the team's Education Appreciation Night, and Friday's game will be the team's Healthcare Heroes and Pink the Rink Night.

THE CRUSADERS (11-11-2, 9-5-2 AHA):
  • Holy Cross enters the weekend following a series sweep at Robert Morris, falling on Friday, 5-2, before being shutout, 1-0, on Saturday.
  • The last time Holy Cross was swept in regulation in Atlantic Hockey play was Nov. 9 and 10, 2023, a home-and-home set against AIC.
  • Despite this, Holy Cross is currently tied for the Atlantic Hockey lead in goals for (75) and goals scored per game (3.13), and are second in faceoff win percentage (.512),  assists (131), assists per game (5.46), points (206) and points per game (8.58).
    • Senior Jack Seymour sits in a tie for 16th in the nation in plus/minus at +17 on the season.
    • Junior Jack Stockfish was named a candidate for the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award Wednesday afternoon.
    • Stockfish, who carries 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists into the weekend, sits in eighth in Atlantic Hockey in points and is tied for ninth in points per game at 0.88.
    • Stockfish's 263 face-off wins this season sits in second in Atlantic Hockey and 12th in the nation, while his .591 success rate leads Atlantic Hockey.

SCOUTING ARMY (9-11-5, 4-10-3 AHA):
  • Army enters the weekend series after a week off due to the snowstorm.
  • The Black Knight's last series - ironically also against Robert Morris - saw a series split between the two sides. Army took the first game, 3-2 in overtmine, while Robert Morris was victorious in the back half of the series, 3-0.
  • Army is led on offense by Jack Ivey (7-12-19), Ben Ivey (8-9-17), Nils Forselius (5-13-18), and Barron Woodring (5-13-18). Netminder JJ Cataldo has backstopped 22 of the Black Knights' 25 games this season, posting a 2.38 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.

ALL TIME SERIES:
  • Army holds the all-time series lead at 50-42-12, dating back to 1956.
  • Holy Cross has dominated the last ten meetings dating back to the 2023-24 season, 6-4, including a sweep in the Atlantic Hockey Semifinals last season.
  • The two teams last met for a two game set in West Point earlier this season on Oct. 24 and 25. Army won the first night, 5-2, before Holy Cross stormed back with a 5-1 win on the second night.
